[English] May your love for yuri surpass the boundaries

As many of you may already know, the rules of voting have been changed and become even more restricted than before. I am going to explain this below-- though I know we have hurt the feelings of many of you, like u101 san. For that, I wish you knew how sorry I am, and have been, ever since what happened two days ago. Please accept my most sincere apology on behalf of the organizers.

We had an ideal. An ideal that we'll make this event the most lively yuri-fan gathering, the event without complicated rules so that everyone from all over the world can attend. We thought by whichever means people express their love, their love is never wrong. We wished that everyone would respect other people's votes, and take them equally.

That's why we didn't set the boundary. We didn't do it even when Kirika and Konoha's match was forfeited because of false votes. What most regretful was, our innocent wishes were smashed into pieces, again and again, by some people who would not obey the rules and stop voting multiple votes.

That is why we set up the new rules to restrict a certain group of people (and I know that most of you do not belong) from tarnishing our love for the favorite shoujoai/yuri characters.

As previously been translated by a few yamibo members, the most important changes of rules are:

1. If you registered after 2006.1.1 (as most international people are), you have to reach 30 posts AND 50 score to be eligible to vote.

2. When you vote, not only do you have to vote the previous way, you also have to reply the voting thread by naming the person you are voting for.

The rational is that one person will not be able to make all his/her non-main ids eligible for voting. Note that if one person has 3 minor ids, normally he/she would have to reply 90-150 posts that are not recognized as meaningless water (i.e. Spam posts), and also not to be detected by mods' ip checking.

You may despise us for eating our words. If you do, please despise me only. I apologize again for failing to come up with a better plan. The executive organizer hasn't had a good rest for a while, and since the match 2 days ago, many mods have devoted their excessive leisure time, even sleeping time to discuss the ways to guarantee the fairness of the game, track the false votes and try figuring out the best way to do this. Since the 7th match of the 3rd round, the mods also have to manually check all ~800 votes to validate the results. That's quite some work without pay nor without enough appreciation.

Of course these rules will give you all a lot more trouble to vote. However, we believe if you love your characters enough, you wouldn't mind declaring your love here. Also, your vote WILL mean more, and we are definitely not aiming at new people. What you basically have to do is just to post more, and I'd suggest a few ways to do it in post #2.

Ok, let's take a look at the rules. I'd say having 30 posts is the hardest thing to do, and you don't need to worry about having scores at 50. As long as you post something interesting, you'll naturally have 50 by 30 posts, as people will generally recognize the value of your posts and add scores for ya.

I did include a super short instruction of how to post replies at the end of #1 in this thread
https://bbs.yamibo.com/thread-39121-1-1.html
We'll see if more explanation is needed.

Since you'll have to post, why not post something about your favorite characters? Or anything about yuri? Your previous work, fanfic, MAD, images, or even questions? You'll have more interactions with people here, and may have fun doing so. You can also influence other people's votes, you know yamibon041

You are invited to communicate with us, or simply try to reach 30 posts here. I noticed some already reached this amount and some other only need a few more to get there. If you don't want to say anything, you can post pictures (<img>the http site of the picture</img>, change <> to []). 30 posts will be easy to achieve. yamiboqe006

That just shows the different habbits in between Chinese fans and English fans. Fans who use English as a native language like to build a thread high instead of making threads all over the place.

Most other Yamibo people like to do the opposite yamiboqe005

Libertine 发表于 2006-12-11 05:24

yeh, that sounds quite right, mate.

btw....i've been wanting to ask....why you guys call yamibo 300. i just never get it. yamiboqe026

Yamibo's old name in Chinese is 山百合会(yamayurikai),山百=300 in its Chinese pronunciation, that's all it is.

You've had enough posts, now you just need to have something worthy of 20 points...

I disagree. It's all because we're guests here, and some of us probably even wouldn't know which button to push to make new thread. Not to mention a sense of making many of them - this is chinese forum, yamibou users are mostly chinese and they prefer to talk in their mother language... and there is too little of us to keep many threads in english alive.

Btw, I'd like to ask about this points system. I mean, what are these points giving you? Except the reason to be proud of course yamibon028(and voting rights in competition now)
Can anyone reward others posts?
Does any post can be penalized by subtracting points? I think I saw an user who had his points account negative yamiboqe012

You are certainly right, u101. I was somewhat reluctant to mention that reason... Though it is true that after I opened this thread, no one followed it at all and all still used the older one ^ ^;;

About the point system, yes, you can reward other people or be rewarded for interesting comments/ pictures/ uploaded goods/fanfictions etc. Anyways you need a reason to be rewarded.

It used to be that people can deduct your score as well... but it's history now. You can only reward people points, and the amount is limited by how many stars you have below your name. The stars are a reflection of how much contribution you have made to this forum. The total points are refreshed each day.

At the end of each post, you see " 编辑引用报告评分 回复", which means "edit quote report evaluate reply". Click on "evaluate" then you can add points to a post. After that you'll see a thumb (or a few) up on the top right of that post. However, if you just add points randomly, people will think it's not fair and may report to the mods to take it off ^ ^;;;So a reason is needed. That's why I can't just add points to all of you without something shining yamiboqe005

The accounts negative in points are usually punished by the mods for violating forum rules. It happens very infrequently, and if it ever happens to anyone here, try pm me or other mods. I'll try figuring it out for ya.
