banned?

I can't connect to yamibo for like two weeks or so already. Did I do something to get myself banned? Can you let me know? I have no idea what I did. Any assistance will be greatly appreciated. Sorry if I post this in the wrong forum because this computer can't display Chinese at all. I am only guessing what I see. Thank you.

If you don't tell me what's your banned ID, how do I help you?

If you computer can't display Chinese at all , why are you interested at this forum anyway?

"trythis" is the banned ID. My computer can't connect to yamibo but others can.

I guess this might be an IP ban. Can I email or PM someoen if you need to know my IP address? I just don't want to broadcast my IP over internet. It is private info and I hope you understand. Thank you.

Your IP is not in forum banned list, I think it's just a network or OS problem .

Here's the translation of a possible solution I did a couple of weeks ago, the author is right above, siyeclover.

Here's the original thread about how to solve this problem (when you can get on it)
https://bbs.yamibo.com/thread-62545-1-1.html
Yes, it's in Chinese... and I am not that good in computer to translate faithfully. I'll just try a little and hope it helps.

1. Test if it is a failure of DNS analysis of yamibo ip.
Run--> ping www.yamibo.com---> see if there is a returned info of 219.153.5.232 in it.
If not, put "219.153.5.232    www.yamibo.com" in the file c:\windows\system32\drivers\etc\hosts
If you are a MAC user,   write it to /etc/hosts
It's normal to see "time out" after ping command.

After this, if you still can't connect to yamibo, go to
http://tor.eff.org/download.html.zh-cn
to download the software Tor, install and activate it. ( It needs to be activated every time later)

Then, download and install firefox here
http://www.mozilla.org/firefox

Open Firefox, put in https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/2275/
Click on "Install Now" to install Torbutton.
After it's installed, click on the "Tor disabled" button at the bottom right corner, and change it to "Tor enable"

In most cases, this should solve your problem. If you still have a problem, you'll have to keep bothering siyecloveryamibohk04

I am running on Window Vista and Firefox.

What is "ping" www.yamibo.com? I presume it is "Start menu" --> "Run" --> then what? What is "ping?"

I will have to try this later on my computer when I have a chance.

Thanks.

"Start menu" --> "Run" --> then run command'cmd' , it will open a command line window, run command 'ping www.yamibo.com' in that window and see what's its result.

It says “request timed out.” I guess that means it’s not OK?

I tried to change the host file but it wouldn’t let me. The error message was “access denied.” I am the administrator of this computer but Vista has always had this problem. Also, I open the host file under “wordpad” or “notepad” and neither of them work anyway.

Do you have a way to save changes in “c:\windows\system32\drivers\etc\hosts” in Vista?

I download this “Tor” and it works, although the internet is insanely slow now. I would like to be able to change that host file so I don’t have to use this Tor thing. I will play around this for a couple of days and see how it turns out.

Thanks.

If you see '219.153.5.232' when you ping www.yamibo.com, that's mean it's OK and you don't need to modify the hosts file.
Tor is slow but it's work, I prefer Tor to other solutions because it's the simplest solution. If you want a high speed solution, you need to find out a hign speed proxy server.

Oh, well, I will stick to Tor for now. Thank you all for your help.
